The Dragon Fruit Disease
Recently Dragon Fruit (Pitaya) farmer from countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and even Australia are facing serious Dragon Fruit Rotting Diseases. Affected plant will not only halt the plant growth but it will reduce blossoming activities. In a long run it will affect the owner's profit. In order to allow the owner to understand about the disease, we will have a brief explanation on each kind of disease.

It is a major problem for most pitaya farmer. It has various causes such as xanthomonas campestris, fusarium oxysporium, pontoea sp and etc. It will infect the plant from where its injured parts especially the stem tissues which usually scarred by insects or an infection of anthracnose which is also another disease that will be exlained later. Usually after the infection the tissues will became yellowish and than start to smell like rotten tissues. If there is not any appopriate action taken the stem will be completely rotten.

This disease is very common in most south east countries due to the humidity and the frequent rainy day it will become active. This disease not only develop on the rib of vines but also on the fruit itself.The infected pland will have  red brownish concentric sesions on vines, stem and fruit.
